The Power Behind Every Spice: Rural Women at the Heart of Rughji FarmAt Rughji Farm, every grain of spice tells a story—not just of tradition and purity, but of resilience, dignity, and empowerment. Behind the aroma of our handmade turmeric or the vibrant color of our red chili lies the powerful spirit of rural women who have taken control of their futures, one chaki (traditional grinder) at a time.
Where Strength Meets Tradition
In a world that often overlooks women above 50, especially in rural India, we saw something different—a wealth of experience, dedication, and untapped potential. At Rughji Farm, we chose to place these women at the very center of our operations.
From cleaning and grinding to packing and quality control, every step of our spice-making process is done by hand, by women. This isn’t just about producing spices—this is about restoring pride and purpose in the lives of those who’ve been left out of the employment conversation for too long.
Work with Dignity, Not Charity
The women who work with us are not laborers—they are craftswomen, caretakers, and changemakers. Most of them had never stepped outside their homes for employment. Today, they are earning, leading, and inspiring others in their villages.
We don’t just give them jobs. We give them ownership of a mission: to deliver unadulterated, traditionally processed spices to families who care about health, authenticity, and the people behind the product.
Purity in Process, Power in People
The traditional hand chaki grinds spices at low RPM, which helps preserve their natural oils, color, and micronutrients. This slow, careful process also mirrors the thoughtful approach these women take in their work—every step infused with love, pride, and discipline.
